OUT WITH THE DOGS

adventures of S&S, Animal Welfare League of Qld, Hans Sausage, Notes from S&S

Even though Hans & Odie could be mistaken for the most spoiled dogs on the planet their life was not always so chipper. Before there was “SAUSAGE AND SANCHEZ” Odie was a stray who was left to wander the streets before being found by a Animal Management Officer and taken to the pound, underweight with k9 cough and flea bitten ears. Hans was left abandonded as a five week old puppy in a dog park before finding his way to the Animal Welfare League and then into my heart. It is for this reason we sign up to Out with the Dogs every year in the hope that we can raise a few extra dollars for the companion animals currently waiting for their own happy home at the Animal Welfare League of Qld.

Hans & Odie love to camp and this year we plan to camp at Stradbroke Island. If you can sponsor our camp out please click here or to register for your own fundraiser log on to www.outwiththedogs.com.au

Gold Coast Pet Expo

adventures of S&S, Notes from S&S, Uncategorized

What a day we had at Varsity Lakes hanging out with the local pooches. The Gold Coast Pet Expo was in full swing with little lovelies in all shapes and sizes. It was so great to meet up with supporters of Sausage and Sanchez. My favorite of the day though had to be catching up with my little Olive, the Rottwieler pup we fostered a little while back. She is growing so quickly and her new proud parents have renamed her Ebony.

A Day in the Big Blue

Hans Sausage, Odie Sanchez

What a glorious weekend!!! Having recently purchased a new boat from friends who are sadly leaving us for the grey skys of Melbourne we decided to spend the day on the water with family seeing what our new pontoon boat could do.

Hans Sausage and Odie Sanchez are often seen cruising the canals of the Gold Coast but it isn’t every day they go across the seaway in the big waves.. They coped quite well which was a relief to me because quite frankly I didn’t want to be spending my Sunday cleaning up puppy spew in our new craft. Check out our photos below:

My love and my Hans Sausage

Anchor Down – Hans loves the water and will not sit still when boating. He is always bouncing around from one side to the other, tail wagging, nose sniffing and ears flying in the wind. funniest sight ever!

Ever Since Hans was little he has been out on the water – Hare are a couple of my favourite photos of him growing up on the big blue.

Han’s first life jacket.

Watching his dad wakeboarding

Odie is more the fashionista. He is quite happy to be laying back watching everyone do their thing. He does love boating apparal though – Don’t you just love his collar?!

Here is Odie after we took him for a little ride on our Jet Ski. He LOVED IT!

Happy FUNDAY SUNDAY 🙂

Lazy Sundaze

Hans Sausage, Notes from S&S

I love Sunday’s, especially when it starts with a trip to The Village Markets (TVM) with Hans Sausage and my good friend Magda. TVM is full of crafty goods and clothing, delicious food and fun people. I would love to have a Sausage & Sanchez stall there one day soon. It is also lots of fun because it is the one of few places on the Gold Coast where you can take your dog without raised eyebrows or cranky shop keepers and there is always lots of tail wagging and butt sniffing.. HANS LOVES IT! Check out photos here.

After the markets Magda and I took Hans to Burleigh Hill where he met an Australian Bulldog and proceeded to play hide and seek as he wasn’t sure if he would be squashed or eaten if he got too close.

When we got home I pulled out the sewing machine and inspired by the creatives at the markets got to work on a new coat for the little Lo-rider.

It is so hard to find a coat that fits Han’s body shape which was a big reason why I started Sausage & Sanchez. As it turns out I am not alone. Most of the Sausage & Sanchez fans are owners of dogs that are cross breeds with odd body shapes which leaves them with little options in the winter coat department.

I made a similar style of coat for Odie a couple of weeks ago and think it is a great design as it keeps their little chests warm. Hans lays on his tummy a lot so these style is ideal and I think he looks so handsome!

We will be selling this design in the S&S store from Monday for $55.

For custom sizing email details to brooke@sausageandsanchez.com

I think he likes his new threads.

What did you get up to with your poochies on this beautiful day?

Photographers

By now I am sure you are beginning to realise I am a bit of a photo junkie. I can’t get enough of taking photos, looking at photos, critiquing photos (or the things and people in them) and just about anything to do with the art of photography. (I blame Pintrest, oh and by the way check out my account).

There are so many beautiful images in the world and amazing photographers that truly take my breath away, (some I have mentioned in this blog).

I hold a special place in my heart for pet photographers because lets face it, it aint easy photographing animals. Working at a shelter I have come to realise that a photo can be the difference between an animal being adopted immediately or again be left to wait another day. Our shelter is lucky to work with one photographer in particular who calls pet photography her “heart work”. Diana from K9 photography is always too happy to help photograph an animal if it will help it find a home sooner rather than later.

Diana has a beautiful 16 year old dog named Max who she is crazy about and she has the same enthusiasm for just about every other pooch she meets. Originally calling Sydney home she is now based on the Gold Coast and volunteers her time between the Animal Welfare League and Best Friends Rescue. Her words to live by are:

“Dare to dream,  believe in your dreams and go make them happen – life is short – Respect yourself, Respect others and Learn to listen”.
Here are is a shot Diana took of Han’s one morning down at the beach when he was still a tiny puppy.
And of some other Dachshunds I thought was too cute not to share.
Diana is also apart of the Animal Welfare League doggy makeover program where we take a scruffy looking pooch, give him a haircut and wash and then have a photoshoot which helps find them homes sooner rather than later. See below…
